The Ranatra Fusca Award is the most prestigious award given at Odyssey, and it is not always given to the team with the most points, but to the team who took risks and thought outside of the box. Teams warmly and enthusiastically cheered their competitors, wishing them well, recognizing and appreciating talent, skills, creativity in others.ДЄlthough every team who solves Odyssey of the Mind problems at World Finals are considered winners, those students who developed exceptional solutions and took creative risks were awarded first through third place, along with Ranatra Fusca Award winners. Teams who competed at the World Finals are some of the best who showcased their creative solutions, wowing and dazzling judges.

Teams of students worked all year perfecting solutions to one of five long-term problems. This year, out of 899 teams from around the world, 19 were recognized as this yearвЂ™s champions, yet everyone who participated at World Finals was a winner.

The Odyssey of the Mind World Finals is the culmination of a year of hard work, brainstorming and creativity. Six teams representing Switzerland celebrated world-wide creativity and camaraderie at its finest with some 15вЂ™000 people who traveled from many parts of the world to attend the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, May 22 вЂ“ 25, 2019 at Michigan State University, Michigan, USA.

Switzerland being represented by young children at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, competing with teams from the USA, Ivory Coast, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Korea who each sent their best to compete for the Championship.

All events will require masks to attend or participate in. Our region will be following the CDC guidelines and the requirements for safety each host venue stipulates. This will be dependent on our host facilities policies with school useage for an outside organization.

However, COVID-19 and the evolving changes within the state and region and your local school districts, may necessate that we revert to virtual training. Our region has scheduled in person trainings and the regional competition. Odyssey of the Mind 2021-2022 Season is up and running in the NCPA Region. Pa Odyssey Jump Start GrantsВ are available to those who qualify. Need some help in getting a program started in your school or community organization. The best part of the Odyssey of the Mind program is that the students do it all themselves вЂ“ from the conception of the idea for the solution to the problem they are solving to the performance of the 8-minute solution at our regional competition each year. It builds self-confidence and self-esteem and students have fun. The program not only fosters and develops creativity but gives each student a jump start into merging into the adult work world by encouraging teamwork, problem-solving skills, and вЂњthinking out of the boxвЂќ or taking risks. Each individual on a team has a gift or talent that is utilized while working together as a team. The Odyssey of the Mind program gives students the opportunity to solve open-ended problems through creativity, divergent thinking, and even through taking risks. Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program for K-12 and college students.
